Introducing Sarah Reichert, DVM
The Cat Doctor is pleased to welcome Sarah Reichert, DVM as our new veterinarian. Dr. Reichert brings a passion for cats and a commitment to partner with owners to better the lives of our feline family members. In her new role at The Cat Doctor, Dr. Reichert looks forward to getting to know her patients and their families and working together to foster the strong human-animal bond that helps keep cats healthy.
Dr. Reichert has loved cats since an early age. She begged her parents for her first cat at the age of eight. She and her husband share their home with two cats—Bella, a domestic shorthair and Lucy, an orange tabby. When she’s not working and caring for her cats, Dr. Reichert enjoys baking, reading and traveling. She absolutely loves chocolate—which she is sure to keep out of the reach of her cats.
Dr. Reichert earned her undergraduate degree here in Milwaukee at Marquette University, where she majored in Biological Sciences with minors in Chemistry and Psychology. Dr. Reichert is a graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she received her Doctor in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. Dr. Reichert’s experience includes work with shelter animals at an animal shelter in Missouri where they focused on spay and neuter as well as diseases commonly found in shelter animals. Dr. Reichert also has experience at a veterinary emergency and specialty hospital in Des Moines, Iowa which focused on emergency medicine, surgery and oncology. She is especially interested in wellness and preventative care as well as surgery. Additionally, Dr. Reichert is a Fear Free certified veterinarian, meaning that she has completed training to help reduce or remove anxiety triggers that can cause pets to become fearful at home, in transit or at the veterinary hospital.
Dr. Reichert is excited to be returning to Milwaukee and joining our feline only, Cat Friendly certified practice where she can focus on her favorite animal—cats. She looks forward to meeting all of The Cat Doctor clients and patients over the coming months.
What Cat Friendly Certified Really Means
It might go without saying that we are a cat-friendly hospital, but being Cat Friendly Certified means something more. As a team and as a practice, we treat our feline patients in a way that caters to their needs and comforts above all else. Our facility, services, and protocols are all designed to reduce stress in cats, help them feel more relaxed with us, and make bringing them to the vet significantly easier for everyone involved.
Taking cats out of their home environment can be a challenge, but this also prevents them from getting essential care. We hope to change that, and give cats and their devoted families more healthy, happy years together.
